The original Mesquite Pit opened in 1993. It moved to this location (and this size) in 2000. The location in Mineral Wells opened in 2008.
The restaurant "specialize in Mesquite grilled steaks and Bar-be-cue, seafood, family food and good old American favorites, including great cheeseburgers."
The interior is very casual with a great stone fireplace, game heads, rustic bric-a-brac and, of course, plastic checked tablecloths.
Both are family-owned by the Maynard family (Wes and Robin in Weatherford, while their son runs the Mineral Wells one).
