This bench was dedicated to two little girls, Megan Giger and Aislyn King, for their bravery. One afternoon while riding in the back seat of Megan's aunt's Chevy Tahoe going down a gravel road heading to Megan's home, a pheasant flew in front of the Tahoe and Megan's aunt swerved to miss it and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went through the ditch and rolled over upside down. Megan and Aislyn were strapped in their seat belts, the aunt wasn't wearing hers and was thrown through the sun roof and pinned underneath the Tahoe. Megan unhooked her seat belt and her friend's seat belt and called for her aunt who didn't reply. The girls climbed out a broken window and made their way through the high weeds in the ditch out onto the road. Megan recognized her house a quarter of a mile down the road and the girls ran all the way to tell Megan's mother. Megan's mother drove down the road and finally found the vehicle and called for help.
The Oklahoman newspaper has a contest where readers can submit a story of heroism performed by anyone in Oklahoma. This story was entered and they won by people voting on the story. Channel 9 News came up to Braman and did a story on the accident and it aired on their TV station. A dinner was held in honor of the girls and they were awarded medals of bravery from State Representative Dale DeWitt. These girls are truly heroes in saving Megan's aunt Aubree.
