This sundial is located at the Lynchburg Turnpike entrance to the Sherwood Memorial Park. The sundial stands near the entrance fountain and is dedicated to W. R. Hester, who was the former president of Sherwood Burial Park. The pedestal is inscribed:
"Dedicated to W. R. Hester = President of Sherwood Burial Park 1933 - 1936. Died July 29, 1936."
