Winfred is an unincorporated community in Lake County, South Dakota, United States, about 15 miles west of Madison. Although not tracked by the Census Bureau, Winfred has been assigned the ZIP code of 57076.

The town is about 1 mile off SD Highway 34.

The old fire hall was demolished in the late 80's and a new building was constructed. The bell was salvaged and is on display in front of the fire hall.

Winfred's claim to fame is the A H Meyers & Sons Inc., which is the parent company of Meyer Honey Farms.

The local school system has long since closed and accordingly the population has decreased to less than 100 people. These people are mostly German and Norwegian ancestries.
