The Azure Window (WMCRC) at Dwerja Bay is a famous natural arch but it is not the only natural arch on Gozo. There is an arch on the adjacent island, Fungus Rock.

The natural arch on Fungus Rock is not visible from the parking lot for the Azure window or the Watchtower (WM8FJK). Hike around Dwerjra Bay and the arch is clearly visible in the famous "Fungus Rock".

Fungus Rock, “The General’s Island” is the source of a rare plant with powerful pharmaceutical properties, The plant (Cynomorium coccineus) was used to dress wounds, cure dysentery, ulcers, apoplexy and venereal disease. It is also reputed to be an aphrodisiac. The Knights guarded this miracle drug to exploit it themselves. At one time there was a 6 pound cannon to defend Dwejra Bay and Fungus Rock. Access is not permited to Fungus Rock.

GPS is estimated for the arch. For our view position on the cliff above Dwejra Bay the coordinates are 36 2.706 N, 14 11.334 W.

We hiked here from Gharb, down along the cliff from San Lawrenz to Dwejra, passed the Azure Window, watchtower and then up over the Xlendi Cliffs back to Xlendi. The hiking on Gozo is excellent. We saw so many things missed by the standard tourist "activity packages" that do Gozo in a day.
Photo of the Arch by itself?: yes

Type of Arch: Water Eroded

Type of Material:
The sea has been eroding the limestone cliffs . The connection betweeen the Xlendi Cliffs, Fungus Rock and Crocodile Rock are obvious encircling Dwejra Bay. Erosion hase created Fungus Rock as an isolated Island and continues to work on the island itself. This natural arch is a breach in the island that will grow as the island continues to be beaten by the waves.
