Newer painted versions of the New Plymouth Boys High School coat of arms appear prominantly on the frontage of the school building.
The coat of arms features a shield with Mt Egmont (Taranaki) between two punga ferns and below that is a native New Zealand bird, Huia, now extinct.
The motto "et comitate et virtute et sapientia" means Comradeship, Valour and Wisdom.
