Colton is located in northern Minnehaha County, South Dakota. It has a population of 676 as of July 2008, reflecting a 2% increase from the 2000 census.
The town was settled by German, Norwegian, Dutch, English, Irish, and Swedish peoples, and was incorporated in 1904.
