Description:
A kneeling woman holds a disk in her lap with her proper right arm, her face turned in proper left profile. Her proper left arm rests on her thigh. The sculpture is mounted on a pyramidal base.
Remarks:
Sculpture is a replica of the work of Professor Domenico Zora, and was inaugurated in Terrasini, Italy on July 25, 1987. It was dedicated jointly by the cities of Warren, Michigan, and Terrasini to all immigrants of the world. It is in memory of Jerry Grillo (1935-1986), who was born in Terrasini and died in Detroit, as a symbol of all Italian workers abroad. The sculpture was donated to Warren by the Mayors of the following cities: Gulf of Castellammare i Alcamo, Balestrate, Borgetto, Calatafimi, Capaci, Carnini, Castellammare del Golfo, Cinisi Giardinello, Montelepre, Partinico, San Guiseppe Jato, San Vito Lo Capo, Terrasini and Trappeto I. Uta and Vince di Lorenzo also contributed to the sculpture in memory of their father, Mr. Vito Biondo.
