Located in Deuel County, South Dakota, Clear Lake has a population of 1,225 as of July 2008, an 8% decrease from the 2000 census.
The town was incorporated in 1900, and was originally settled by German, Norwegian, Dutch, English, Irish, and Swedish peoples.
The town operates on a Mayor/City Council type of government. The present Mayor is Jayme Gross. There are six councilmembers.
