This weathervane sits atop the church hall adjacent to the Church of the Ascension, Hall Green, Birmingham.
The church was completed and consecrated in 1704. It is believed to have been designed by Sir William Wilson and was originally named after Job Marston, a resident at nearby Hall Green Hall (now gone).
The original church building and additions are in the Queen Anne style. It is the earliest classical church surviving within Birmingham. In 1952 it was designated with Grade II listed status.
The hall is unremarkable save for the angel weathervane. An angel seems like a far more appropriate subject for a church related weathervane than the ubiquitous cockerel!!
