In 1870 Zarbula painted a second sundial in the hamlet of Champlas du Col, on a private house at 7 Via Nazionale. this large dial dominated the wall facing south, declining 8.4° east. The original had many of Zarbula's style features, frame, curtain, tassels,, rooster, flowers, sun, moon, equatorial line, Masonic symbols etc. The motto, hidden in the picture by the rail is "VULNERANT OMNES, ULTIMA NECAT. (All hours injure, the last kills). The modern free translation of this cheerful thought is "Life sucks, and then you die!
In 2001 the house was rebuilt. The original sundial was destroyed when the wall was demolished. Lucio Maria Morra, a well known Italian sundial artist recreated the sundial based on a picture taken about 1990, The details and pictures are on his website. The replacement is slightly smaller (140 cm w x 148 cm h) but is in scale with the rebuilt structure.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
