The statue is of Luther standing wearing a long robe. He is holding a book in his hands as he looks up. He is standing on a pedestal inscribed with "Luther" The statue is an exact replica of one placed in Worms, Germany. The statue in Germany is located where Luther made his famous speech at the Diet of Worms, "Here I Stand." Concordia received their casting in 1903 and it was placed on their Jefferson Avenue St. Louis campus. When the seminary moved the statue was also moved in the mid-1920's.
