Created by Michael Tradowsky in 1984 for the Milan Garden Club, the statue of "Young Edison" being taught by his mother is located on the Milan village square. Edison did not attend school in Milan because his mother was a former teacher, thus she home schooled him in his early years. The Edison family moved away from Milan in 1854 when Thomas was seven.
