The oldest mill ever mentioned ion Werkhoven dates back to 1395, but at a different location. That mill was torn down in 1888 and the current mill was built to replace it.

In 1930 an electric motor was installed, rendering wind milling unnecessary and the wings and hood were removed in 1933.

During WWII the mill acted as a lookout post for the Germans, but fortunately it survived the war.

In 1985 the first initiative was launched to restore the mill which resulted in a reopening on 14 May 1994.
