The standard route is from the Kite Lake Trailhead. This is reached by driving six miles north on Colorado Highway 9 from the U.S. Highway 285-Colorado Highway 9 junction in Fairplay, Colorado to the town of Alma, Colorado. Turn west onto Park County Road 8 (AKA: Kite Lake Road) and travel six miles to the trailhead at Kite Lake. The last mile of this road is deeply rutted and difficult for 2wd vehicles. There is a parking lot at the trailhead, but you have to pay to park here. Hike north from here up a well worn trail to the 13,400 feet saddle between Mount Democrat and Mount Cameron. Turn east and follow the ridge to Mount Cameron and then continue 0.5 mile northeast to the summit of Mt. Lincoln.
Altitude in Feet: 14286
