One of several old stone lime kilns dating from the mid to late 1800s used in the manufacture of lime from limestone for the Tyson Ironworks blast furnace. Although I'm not sure of the extent of landholdings by the Ward Lime works Company, it was situated in this area on an old Beers map.
To see it. Park at the bottom of the CCC road just north of the kiln and walk south along the 100, past the rock cut. The kiln is about 300 ft. west of here at the same elevation as highway 100.
