This sundial is brand new and only recently installed. It was commissioned to celebrate the 150th anniversary of BC in 2008. The official launch was on 28 Jul 09.
The sundial is one of a type that doesn't have a gnomen itself but instead uses the viewer as the gnomen. There are a set of shoeprints to stand on where you can watch your shadow along the rim to tell the time. It even has a scale that can be used to account for the differences during the various times of year. I'm not sure about that part though as it didn't really work for us.
