Aliquippa was once a thriving community, with ties to the steel industry that dotted the banks of the adjacent Ohio River. Since the 1980's, the downtown district has been delapidated, with vacant buildings and hardly any business activity.
A rebirth has been happening, and this performing space/restaurant/cafe/internet access space has provided a renaissance of the community.
