The Holland House at 47 Westmoreland Place was built in 1909 for Nora Wilcoxson Holland, the widow of George H. Holland. The house was designed by St. Louis architects Eames & Young.

George Holland started at Bridge & Beach Manufacturing Company, a large stove manufacturing company headquartered in St. Louis at age 21 as a clerk. Through hard work he became treasurer and general manager of firm prior to his death in 1902 at age 55.
