The Cabin Creek bridge, (also known as the Hughes farm, Mackey farm, C.F. Ferguson farm or Rectorville Bridge,) was built sometime around 1870 (or 1867). Built with a multiple kingpost structure with a Burr arch, the bridge was recently badly damaged by high water during a storm and looked to be near collapse. All that was holding up one end of the bridge was a nylon strap, and one corner was completely unsupported with the concrete pillars and steel I-beam crumbled and twisted under the bridge. A recent visit found the bridge supported with a restoration truss much like the one that was used at the Johnson Creek bridge in nearby Robertson County. Hopefully the future holds the same fate for the Cabin Creek bridge. Despite the shaky appearance, the bridge and the surrounding area make for an interesting drive and are well worth the trip.
Current Condition of Bridge: Awaiting restoration
