The Market Cross is built of Bath stone and was erected
in 1814 by Henry Addington, a Devizes MP.
The plaque says the following,(typed as stated on the plaque)

This Market Crofs was erected by HENRY VISCOUNT SIDMOUTH. as a Memorial of his grateful Attachment to the Borough of DEVIZES. of which He has been Recorder thirty Years. and of which He was fix Times unanimoufly chofen a Reprefentative in Parliament.
