The mural depicts 35 noblemen, from the 12th century Konrad the Great, to the king Georg, who ruled from 1902-1904. It was originally painted by Wilhelm Walter between 1872 and 1876 but eventually, the stucco began to crumble and between 1904 and 1907 it was replaced by 25,000 Meissen porcelain tiles.
