This simple plaque embedded on a stone by the parking lot of the Seabee Museum and Memorial Park in Davisville, RI, is just one of the many memorials placed here to remember this specialized group of the Navy, which was started right in this town.

Along Davisville, by a Lowe's store near Davisville Avenue and Route 1, there is a parking area next to a set of Quonset Huts and memorial markers in a partially wooded parcel. Signs nearby identify this place as the Seabee Museum and Memorial Park. The museum was closed when I passed by, but the place is to mark the start of the CB ("Seabees" of the Navy and commemorate the contributions and sacrifices made during many of the wars that they were involved.

By the parking lot, at a corner where two sidewalks meet, there is a stone marker with a plaque that states that it honors the veterans who made this park possible. The exact wording is below.

There is a museum in a metal shelter that has information about the Naval Construction Battalions, CBs, or "Seabees," who were a specialized group that built bases and other structures, often oversees in hostile areas. They started in 1941 and continue today. The first one was in Davisville, RI, which was decommissioned in 1994. The Seabees were active in World War II, as well as other wars such as the Vietnam War and the Gulf Wars.
