This may have been the site of a mill dam at one time, but this relatively recent structure apparently replaced that one. It appears to be necessary to maintain the level of Lake Carmi.

When this are was first settled, the lake was considered a worthless waste of space. It is now surrounded by a state park and numerous summer residences.
