The Samarra beach is a small beach with 50mts wide in the end of the Ribeira da Samarra Valley.
Inside the Sintra Cascais Natural Park Samarra is one of the few places where you can be at your will because its an unknown beach and just some people go there. It´s a non watched beach and sometimes there are big waves so you have to be carefull with young children.
The interest in the place is not only the beach itself. You can find interesting Geológic and Archeológic vestiges, and, a rich and diversified fauna and flora.
Its simple to get there. You can park your car in the right as soon as you start to go down. Any vehicle can go all the way down, but, we think a 4x2 vehicle can have some troubles to return (we saw some down there). Anyway, a sign in the road left us with some doubts and we dont know if its forbiden or not to take the car all the way down. We left it to your consideration after reading the sign.
Depending on the time of the year you can have either sand or sand with pebbles. During the summer you´ll probably find mostly sand.
Given coordinates are from the end of the road in the beach.
Follow the signs to Assafora, then to Catribana and, at N 38° 53.874 W 009° 25.112 turn right to the dirt road and follow it untill you can. We advise you to leave your car in here N 38° 53.714 W 009° 25.978 unless it´s a 4x4.
