Bronze disk set in a rock on the left side of the narrow, steep trail up-slope from the parking area at Pilot Rock. Circular, bronze and approximately the same size as a USGS benchmark. This mark labeled "State of California Department of Water Resources" around the circumference, numbered "SLM1002" and dated "1970". Center is a flat boss.
Type of survey mark: Bronze disk set in a piece of native rock.

What indicators are near the mark to help people identify where it is located?:
Located on a trail running up the ridge that runs almost due north from the Pilot Rock parking area, at the east end of Lake Silverwood, CA. Base of the ridge is between the north shore lake road and the Pilot Rock Conservation Camp (State Prison System) access road.
