Moseley old hall - National Trust U.K. on Waymarking.com

The hall was built by Henry Pitt and was the home of the Whitgreave family.
The hall was one of the places used by Charles II after his defeat at the battle of Wocester on the 3rd of September 1651.
Priest holes had been designed into the hall for the use of the family's catholic priest so it was considered a relatively safe haven for Charles.
The bed the king slept in can still be seen today.

The Whitgreave family owned the hall until 1925 but they had not lived there since the 1820s.
The hall was being used as a farm house up until the second world war and by the time the National trust assumed responsibility for it in 1962 most of the contents had been stripped, the hall was in a neglected state of repair and suffering from subsidence.

The hall has now been restored and refurnished by the National trust and by donations.
