April 2014 update - new photographs are needed
Recycling center for aluminum, copper, brass, and tin - but not scrap steel. Business has been good, so the center moved across the highway to larger facility that has two drive-thru bays. Staffing has increased. Now inside as separate building is the crusher which then throws the cans into a semi trailer for hauling away. Coords are just outside one of the delivery doors.
Hours are 8:30-4:30 Tues-Fri, 8:30-4:00 Sat with lunch noon-1PM (and they are closed at that time). Closed Sunday-Monday. Telephone: (423) 343-1883
Boy Scout Troop 48 generally uses this place for their aluminum recycling (roughly $300-400 in 2008) which gives the scouts leadership-developing responsibility while helping the environment. The truckload shown was 132 pounds of cans plus 20 pounds of scrap siding. The funds were used the next day to buy awards for next Court of Honor.
Not a visit requirement, but if possible, please post the current aluminum can price.
