Starting at a young age as as a messenger boy for a bank Peter O'Neil advanced to become a very successful businessman in St. Louis. He first advanced from messenger boy to higher more responsible positions in banking at various banks in St. Louis. He then became involved in the restaurant business by running St. Louis Union railroad depot restaurant and secured the dining car rights for all trains departing from the depot. This business was very profitable for Mr. O'Neil. Later became involved real estate in the growing St. Louis area and he became prominent in development of real estate in St. Louis.
