This is a complicated and self-referential mural which appears to show members of the Nunes family helping the Acme Sign Company install a new billboard for their vegetables. The woman in the green shirt is a standing cutout who creates the illusion that she is holding a sign-painter up in her cupped hands. To her left is another standing cut-out of one of the Acme workers - the only life size figure - adding to the impossible perspective.

The models are real members of the extended Nunes family, who really do own the Foxy Vegetable brand. The intense coloration and hyper-realistic style is meant to be visible from a busy highway.

This empty building on the Salinas-Monterey highway has hosted a John Cerney mural since 1983. At that time, his only payment for his work was $50 for putting some friend's licenses on the cars in the mural (the first version of Tony's Friendly Auto Service).
