This is a bronze plaque mounted to a stone monument in the Village of Painted Post, NY. The text reads as follows: July 1797
Col. Timothy Pickering, Commissioner Appointed by President Washington, Negotiated the Treaty of Painted Post with the Iroquois Indians, Which Ended Warfare Between The Six Nations and The White Settlers In New York State. Erected by: Civic Organizations, Ingersoll-Rand and Citizens of Painted Post, N. Y. Dedicated: June 11, 1966-Colonial Day.
