This fine viewpoint was built to commemorate the millennium at Thornton-in-Lonsdale, near Ingleton.

The viewpoint here complete with a seating arrangement makes a good stopping point. The view towards Ingleborough mountain which stands at 2373 feet is particularly prominent, and as a pleasant change the indicated distances on the stainless steel plaque are given in imperial which most people can relate to as well as the less popular metric measurements.
The wording on the millennium plaque states,
