"DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 (CAS) THIS STATION IS THE SPIRE ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH IN THE CENTRAL PART OF THE TOWN OF PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN. IT IS LOCATED ABOUT 90 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF N. COURT STREET AND ABOUT 50 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF MARKET STREET. THE CHURCH WAS ERECTED IN 1893. THE SPIRE IS VERY PROMINENT. THE BASE OF THE SPIRE IS A SQUARE RED BRICK TOWER ABOUT 80 FEET HIGH WITH A LARGE BLACK ARCHED LOUVERED WINDOW ON EACH SIDE AND GABLES AT THE TOP. THE BLACK OCTAGONAL SPIRE WITH A POINTED TIP IS ABOUT 60 FEET HIGH. THE TOTAL HEIGHT IS ABOUT 140 FEET."
