Salmon Falls Glacial Potholes - Sherburne Falls, MA - Ancient Traces and Roads on Waymarking.com

It's not what you think. They're not in the road kind of potholes.

These glacial potholes at Salmon Falls were formed during the last ice age. There are around 50 of them, the most in a single area, ranging from 6 inches to about 40 feet in diameter.

They were formed when rocks manages to get stuck in cracks in the river bed and the force of the river caused them to spin in place, which made the rocks drill these potholes.

The Salmon Falls also was the location of a treaty between the Penobscot and Mohawk tribes, according to the text on a sign there.
