This old bridge saw the River Great Ouse flood to the mark indicated on the pillar by indented arrows. It was recorded as being this height on November 1st 1823. It is a free-standing circular pillar made of limestone capped with the flood marker. The river rose 16ft above its normal level and drowned many animals.
