This distance pole stands outside the tourist info center in Carstairs, AB. It has arrows pointed in the direction of many North American cities. I have been told by the visitor info people that these arrows indicate the home city of people who have visited the area. It is a curiosity and many people stopping at the tourist center take the time to look at the pole and see where the arrows point. The arrow with the greatest distance is the one for Miami at 2998 miles.
Historic significance:
This is actually a power pole with the arrows attached to it. One of the workers in the visitor center thought it would be a neat idea to set it up to show passersby the home cities of visitors to the area.

There is no sign for Calgary on the pole so Drumheller is the closest to it.
