According to the Walking Tour Guide of Kimmswick, the present post office has had many sites in town. Here, returned to one of its original locations, the building was restored in 1974. It is furnished with interior fittings from a mid-19th century dismantled post office. Kimmswick had its first postmaster in 1858 - the town's founder, Theodore Kimm. The first post office was located near his residence.
