This mural was painted as part of One Voice Murals Project, under the aegis of the 1998 Monterey County Summer Youth Employment Training Project. According to One Voice, this mural depicts a turn of the century [circa 1900] scene with prosperous store fronts and the diverse nature of the working people. The 1900's were before the artichoke was introduced into cultivation along the coast of California.
