The Library went under a complete renovation and according to their website, now boasts:
For Kids:
- 7,000 square feet divided into Young Children's and Older Children's areas
- New Storytime Room, which preschoolers can enter through the crawl-through orange
- New Homework Center for children ages 5–12
- New computers and printers just for kids
- New outdoor Children's Garden
For Teens:
- 1,800-square-foot Young Adult area on the ground floor
- Books, music, and movies of interest to young adults
- Computers and printers in the YA area
- Six quiet study rooms with computer access
For Adults:
- Fiction--1,800 square feet of new releases, classic novels, mysteries, westerns and other fiction
- Reference and Non-Fiction
o 7,000 square feet on the upper level
o Large computing center upstairs
o New databases—ReferenceUSA, HeritageQuest, Ancestry Library Edition
-Literacy Center--Free program to help adults learn to read with one-on-one or small-group tutoring by volunteers
For English Language Learners:
- Spanish and Vietnamese materials for all ages
- Family and bilingual storytimes
- Inexpensive materials to learn English for purchase from the Friends of the Library Bookstore
For Everyone:
- 163,000 total items, of which 60,000 are for children

- Community Meeting Room--accommodates 133 people, has full kitchen, available during library hours
- Friends of the Library Bookstore - just inside the Main Library north entrance, stocks some 3000 gently used items ranging in price from $.50 to $10.
History Walk
- Around three sides of the building, a comprehensive look back at the early development of the City of Orange, featuring 14 plaques with original artwork telling the story of our community's rich heritage.
Art in the Library
Rotating art displays on the wall below the main staircase
- A 135-tile mural of a 40’s era Orange Fruit Company citrus-crate label, created and donated by Shirley McNiel of Imprinted Memories, decorates the wall outside of the Steve Ambriz Storytime Room.
- Four-panel mosaic frieze depicting characters and scenes from children’s children's as created by children in the Orange Unified School District in their art classes, rendered in mosaic tile by Denwar Studio of Costa Mesa and given to the library by the Friends of the Library in January 1970.
- Seven lively papier-mâché animals, created in 1999 by Orange artist, David Behrmann, decorate the walls, bringing to mind the book Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg.
-A local group of “art quilt makers”, the Cut-Loose Quilters, designed and donated a handmade three-panel art quilt proclaiming “Adventures Start Here!” for the wall behind the Children's Services Desk.
