The blue plaque says " Original site of the NYPORT GATE or watergate entrance to the mediaeval town of Hay. Demolished late 18th century. The warren conservation committee 1994."
The plaque is attached to the Lamb House, now a veterinary surgery, previously The Lamb Inn. Hay had 3 main gates and a postern ( private gate to the castle ). Over the road is the sight of the 'Town Well' and steps leading upto a footpath which follows the town walls.
