After serving as Madison's library for over fifty years, the Carnegie building continues to be of service to the community in a different function.

The Madison Village and Township Free Library Association formed in 1915 and secured a Carnegie grant that same year. The building was not opened until 1919, after Reynold Hinsdale, a Cleveland architect, had presented several different designs. His original plan was deemed “too elaborate” and would have been too expensive to build.
The Madison library operated out of the Carnegie building until 1974, when a new building was constructed. Now, the Madison Village Hall is located in the Carnegie building. A visit to the village’s website shows a photo of the old library in its new role in the upper right.
