One fun aspect of benchmark is figuring out the description from many years ago. The official description is: "IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE POST OFFICE YARD, 1 FOOT NORTH AND 1 FOOT EAST OF THE SIDEWALKS. A STANDARD DISK STAMPED W 57 1934 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST." Well, the post office moved into a federal building (Waymark WM4PW2), so the old facility was converted into a city library. Folks pass this BM regularly without knowing what it is.

Located at the intersection of Broad and New Streets in downtown Kingsport.
