Tanner is sitting on a life-size, bronze statue of a Mountain goat nanny and kid created by sculptor Peter Helzer. The stature is located in the Great Northwest Exhibit at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon. The sculpture shows how well adapted these animals are. The stocky legs and thick wool are needed to survive a harsh climate.
This weekend was a special time for Zoo goers as the 325 lb. baby elephant was named yesterday. It is called Samudra, or Sam for short. Samudra is Hindi for "lord of the ocean." Little Sam loves to take baths hence the name.
