The congregation was formed in 1785, but the sanctuary wasn't completed until 1842. This is a good architectural example of a rural church from that time period.
Stained glass and the cupola were added around 1900.
The adjacent cemetery has numerous graves of prominent early families from the area, as well as a good number of Civil War vets.
