In a consolidation effort, many small neighborhood schools were closed. This one, in the residential neighborhood of Squirrel Hill, has been sucessfully converted into a multi-functional community center. Notable is the Pittsburgh Chess Club, which conducts classes on weekends. Also notable is a daycare center.
