Willard was a clothing manufacturer: overalls, work clothes, sport clothing and suits. It is unclear when this building became Leader Evaporator, manufacturer of sugaring equipment was made. For the uninitiated, that's the hardware necessary to convert the sap of the sugar maple into syrup and sugar, mostly the boiling (evaporating) pans. Such stuff is important in the city where the annual Vermont Maple Festival is held.

Leader moved to a new facility in 2006. The building has been become Willard Mill Apartments.
