St. George Street was the main street of the colonial city of St. Augustine. There are many historic buildings, including the De Mesa-Sanchez House (43 St. George Street), the Arrivas House (44 St. George), and the Avero House (now the St. Photios Greek Shrine) (37 St. George). St. George Street is now a very popular tourist shopping area.
In the lower level of the fountain, you can see the control for this former water feature.
