Based on the true story of a bank robbery which occurred April 24, 1953, filming took place at the actual bank which was robbed in one of Steve McQueen’s early starring roles. Southwest Bank at the corner of S. Kingshighway and Southwest Ave. in St. Louis Missouri looks somewhat different today than it did nearly 50 years ago. The front door on the corner is no longer there, it has been replaced by a brick wall with a couple of windows. Also, the lobby inside is arranged differently as the bank has expanded and the original lobby area is now occupied by bank office space.
