USDI-GS TT 48 DRD is a US Department of Interior - Geological Survey bench mark disk that is mounted in the top of the north end of the east headwall of a bridge over South Run in Burke Lake Park, Fairfax County, VA. The park is bounded by Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) on the northeast, Burke Lake Road (Route 645) on the northwest, Ox Road (Route 123) on the southwest, and Lee Chapel Road (Route 643) on the southeast. The bridge over South Run carries a paved park road over the creek at the point where it feeds into Burke Lake at the lake’s most northwestern point, and is about 100 feet southeast of and parallel to Burke Lake Road. The station is 13.67 feet northwest of the centerline of the road, about six feet above the level of the run and lake, about one foot above the level of the paved road, three inches southeast of the northwest end of the headwall and three inches southwest of the northeast edge of the headwall. The disk is stamped TT 48 DRD 1960 RESET 1971 ELEV. 320 FEET. To reach the station from the intersection of the Fairfax County Parkway and Burke Lake Road in the Burke section of Fairfax County, go southwest on Burke Lake Road for about 1.1 miles to the intersection with Ox Road. Turn left and go southeast on Ox Road for about 0.55 miles to the entrance to Burke Lake Park. Turn left and go northeast on the park entrance road for about 0.2 miles and bear left at a Y in the road. Continue northerly on the paved road for another 0.65 miles to the bridge and the mark on the left at the northeast corner. First found on 04/08/2003, last visited 11/22/2005; recovery initially recorded on the Geocaching datasheet for HV8342, BLAKE.
