The church of St.Mary was dedicated in 1259 The Church is an ancient structure of Pentewan stone, in the Early English and Perpendicular styles, consisting of chancel, nave of five bays, north aisle, south porch and a western tower of three stages. The belfry contains six bells dated respectively 1784, 1766, 1727, 1842. In the north aisle is the recumbent figure of a knight in armour, said to represent Stephen le Fleming, the founder of the church in the time of Richard I. The church was re-roofed and otherwise restored in 1873 at a cost of £800.
